Well there have been a couple nicknames for the Obama Health Care plan/Health Care reform. Those nicknames, perhaps you’ve heard them? The Obamaplann, Obamahealth and one I think is a bit harsh, Obamanation.. As much as I like Obama, I did vote for him and in most ways like the way he is handling things, especially since the last president, however Bush since set the bar way too low.
Actually it’s not a plan, but rather a set of guidelines for congress to follow in putting the plan together themselves. Obama’s plan is there is not a real plan. And actually that was Secretary of State Clinton’s recommendation to Obama having been very involved in the Clinton administration’s attempt at the reform. It’s been said that Obama is doing everything the opposite of what the Clinton administration did. And that’s pretty much true, not only in strategy but it what it includes, or maybe I should say doesn’t include. For instance the Clinton administration pushed for alternative health care to be included in what insurance companies would pay for like for treatments other than dugs or surgery. There is much evidence out there to support that these treatments are not only in harmony with what the body needs to STAY healthy but are less expensive than conventional western medical approaches. It wasn’t just that the Clinton administration acted what some consider to be more slowly theirs was a drastically better approach to what is needed to solve our health care crisis. Unfortunately as pointed out in Michael Moore’s film Sicko, Hillary Clinton who headed up the changes being made ended up not only giving in to them (granted she needed to buddy up to them) but she also ended up in bed with them (not quite like Bill was in bed with others) but she accepted lots of money from them. Though that may have been a buddy up approach, you know, “Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer”? However the result was progress was never made and I do not know exactly what happened there. Perhaps someone can comment back as to what did happen there.
The point is the Clinton administration tried to make the right changes. Obama is just in a hurry to make A change, hopefully what he has in the back of his mind is to do this as a stop gap, until he can make the needed changes that can’t happen within his first year, and probably not in his first term. The health care industry is in far too big of shambles that we need a new paradigm.
Obviously promotion of healthy diet and lifestyle are a given Problem is what are they referring to as a healthy diet? Fortunately, First Lady, Michelle Obama, is promoting consumption of fresh produce with her new White House Garden spoken of in the Whitehouse blog obamafoodorama on blogspot and may help with a current paradigm shift in food issues. Perhaps she will be the catalyst for this aspect of nutrition education for the administration.
My biggest issues with what he is proposing starts with what he calls preventive care. What is promoted as preventive is nothing of the kind. It is lip service that has been same promoted testing procedures for years
The American people themselves need to be thinking differently about how they take care of themselves! Look at what they eat, look at what they do when they get sick, thy go to the doctor to get a prescription, they demand a pill for this and a pill for that, so they are being given what they ask for. One of the problems with prescriptions is not just their expense, but correcting the problems that cause the alleged need for that drug.
The biggest issue with our health care is us. We need to take responsibility for our own health Do we need insurance in case we get into an accident, of course. But full-fledged health insurance to pay for prescriptions is part of what got us in this mess. We’ve allowed ourselves to be brainwashed to this system that’s not only draining many financially, but killing us physically. What’s not yet killing us is poisoning us on a daily basis. It’s actually a mistake to call it a HealthCare system, it’s a SickCare system, or more accurately a Symptom Cloaking System. Symptoms are diagnosed to use a drug, ongoing to correct it. The more important use of drugs should be for temporary relief of an acute problem that needs immediate attention.
It’s been shown that over 90% of illness preventable through lifestyle changes. There are lots of resources for that and this site strives to be one of them and provides links for others.
