My dad was a Type 2 diabetic. I guess he was for as long as I can remember though I was born when he was in his early 30′s. He used to of course consume foods sweetened with saccarine, then in the late 60′s it was reported that although ok for diabetics, non-diabetics should not consume as it was found to be a cancer risk. As a kid, I thought that meant that diabetics were immune to the harmful effects of saccarine due to their diabetes induced body chemistry. Of course that is rediculous, it never was safe for any human to consume, but was considered ok if you were diabetic. Such lunacy, as we are learning now, there is NO SAFE artificial sweetener, they are bad for you health, and in fact diabetics, in my opinion, should take extra measures not to consume those due to their reduced body functions from having diabetes. As I said, that is my opinion, will see if I can find evidence on that. Please comment back if you have it.
