It’s been a very long time, too long since my last post. That changes today.
When I started this blog it was about nutrition, exercise, what to be wary of and what to embrace both in these areas and with regard to various medical treatments. Though everything I’ve written here I still agree on, there is an added but in many ways I’ve discovered a more important aspect to great health and well being. Spirituality.
Years ago when I heard of a spiritual life with regard to well being I interpreted it as being religious or one who goes to church regularly. Though going to church is fine, the important thing is not weather you attend or not but what is in your heart. One thing I’ll point out here is there will be no reference to religion. I do not feel that religion and spirituality are related, in that I feel a spiritual person can be religious, but not necessarily the other way around. There are many religious people who go through the motions but don’t really feel it in their heart.
How do you feel about yourself as a person? Do you do what you can for others when the opportunity arises? Yes a good deed for someone is one way to put it, but I often felt, and I’m sure others do too that it’s not about “doing” something for someone so much as connecting with them through speaking or just a look and a nod. I did that on the bus one time without even giving it a thought, I made eye contact with an older woman and just maintained that contact. After a short period of time she smiled. That connection made her smile and that made us both feel good. That’s what I’m talking about.
Before I did my last post I’d begun my first Reiki circle. If you’re not sure what Reiki is, it’s an energy used for healing. This energy is available to everyone every day. It has a few definitions, one is Universal Life Force Energy, God Energy, Unconditional Love, etc. Just different names for the same healing energy that everyone is capable of giving to someone, or channeling. Generally it’s done by someone who has been trained usually by a Reiki Master Teacher. The Chakras are “attuned” by the Reiki Master teacher to enable the practitioner to channel this energy. The healing of the receiver takes place on all levels of the person, physical, emotional, spiritual and etheric Receiving Reiki on a regular basis is very good for all aspects of your being.
Reiki is just one of many spiritual practices. The ones that resonate with me are of course Reiki, Tantra, Drum circles, various styles of prayer dances, chanting and meditating. Also various manifesting rituals.
The point of this post is how this fits in to a healthy lifestyle. Though I’ve really practiced the nutrition and exercise regimes for years, it hasn’t been until the last couple years that I’ve begun expanding myself spiritually through the practices mentioned. What I’ve discovered is though nutrition and exercise are important. I’ve come to realize being involved in spiritual practices is sometimes more important. When you connect with spirit, meaning your spiritual guides, Archangels, Ascended Masters, Higher Self, Spirits of Loved ones, you can actually gain more healthwise than without that. When I refer to religion, I’m not saying it’s not a good thing, but the love you have and share with others from the heart is more important than following religious doctrine.
