Mammogram versus Thermography Articles

This article explans how Thermography is the best approach to preventing Breast Cancer, versus the Mammography approach of diagnostics of a malignancy.

This article really covers all cancers in general. But focuses on one woman’s experience with repeated unnecessary Mammograms. ”If I had known then what I know now, I would have asked her why doctors place so little effort or educational emphasis on real food and healthy diets, and about Thermography. By the year 2007, I was learning even more about diet and lifestyle as it related to cancer and health. I also learned about an exciting procedure -FDA approved and has been used in Europe for decades – thermography. It is less expensive than mammograms, and can detect cancer up to 10 years before a mammogram.”

This artice explains the advantages of a Thermography rather than a Mammogram for “Preventing” breast cancer.

Breast Cancer Screening with Mammogram Reality Check

I’ve made a number of posts on Mammograms and Breast Cancer and will continue to provide important updates from reliable sources to share. This is from Dr. Pam Popper’s Newsletter. I’ve got her as a resource here at the right column, referred to as “The Wellness Forum“. Dr. Pam Popper is a great resource for very credible nutrition and health information in that she has a very scientific approach and is also quite blunt going by the research results of any topic she comments on. She is big on pointing out erronious information being distrubited to the public she is an awesome resource to check with when you are contemplting making changes in your lifestyle or going for a medical procedure or test.

She has her two latest Newsletters on this topic and clarifies the controvice that has been in the news on this.

Go Here for this info:
Wellness Forum Newsstand and see the last two issues (47) in two parts.

Here are a couple excerpts that I found particularly interesting:

If breast and prostate cancer screening really worked, the researchers correctly noted, they should have resulted in incurable cancers being found early and treated when they could be cured. A large increase in the detection of early-stage cancers should have been accompanied by a decline in late-stage cancers. But this did not happen.”

Dr. Otis Brawley, chief medical officer for the American Cancer Society told the New York Times in response to the earlier JAMA study that the organization would post a message on its website next year saying that screening for breast, prostate and certain other cancers results in the over-treatment of non-aggressive cancers while often missing more aggressive deadly cancers.”

“We don’t want people to panic,” he said, “But I’m admitting that American medicine has over-promised when it comes to screening. The advantages to screening have been exaggerated.”

One thing that is not stated in this issue is that there is an alternative for screening in a test called Thermography.I’ve referred to it in previous postings I’ve done, but here is a podcast with Dr. Popper and a Clinical Thermographer, Theresa Spires, owner of Functional Imaging, about the technology and how it works, along with applications other than breast imaging, discussing it’s benefits and differences from Mammography. When going to this link scroll down to the “Breast Thermography” podcast and click t listen to that.Very informative.

Medical Thermography; Not just for Breast Cancer Prevention

In my previous blog, I referred to the use of Medical Thermography in comparison to Mammograms. The video I linked to from that blog pointed out the use of  Thermography for other types of scans as well. Phlebitis, Thyroid Disfunctions, Arthritus and other types of inflamations can be done using thermography. Here is a link to another video.

Before I link back to that. came across this video that drives home additional information about it’s use in breast screening.

Also found this:

This video though showing emphasis on Breast Screening points out it’w benefit compared to an MRI scan.

Mammograms or Thermography for safe, accurate Breast Cancer Screening?

This I grabbed from Dr. Mercola’s Blog. I was informed in the last few years that the radiation from mammogram machines was much less than I read about 20 years ago, as I mentioned in one of my previous blog posts. However Dr. Mercola seems to be saying otherwise here. Something women should be aware of. With healthcare reform being in the spotlight these days, it’s unfortunate that the changes that really need to be made aren’t being given proper attention.

Here is a link to his video about it.

Here is his blog poston the subject:

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among women, who have a one in eight chance of developing this disease during their lifetime. It is the most common cancer among American women but fortunately, the death rate is gradually decreasing due to modern early detection and intervention technology.

Many doctors recommend that women over the age of 40 should have a mammogram once a year to diagnose and screen for breast cancer. Dr. Joseph Mercola, however, believes that mammograms expose women to radiation that’s almost 1,000 times greater than that from a chest x-ray, which may further increase the risk of radiation-induced cancer.

A mammogram also tightly, and often painfully, compresses the breasts, which may dangerously hasten the growth of any existing malignant cells.

There is also no solid evidence proving that mammograms help save women’s lives, Dr. Mercola points out. Studies show that having an annual mammogram along with the physical examination of your breasts does not lead to an improved survival rate compared to physical examination alone.

If this is the case, what can you do to lower your breast cancer risk?

Thermography can increase your chances of detecting breast cancer in its earliest stages by locating irregular patterns in the breast – conditions that occur before a noticeable lump is formed.

Thermal imaging looks at vascular changes in the breast and detects blood flow patterns, inflammation and asymmetries. Mammograms, on the other hand, focus on anatomical changes, like masses or lumps in the breast tissue.

Dr. Mercola highly recommends thermograms because they benefit all women, are quick and non-invasive, make no contact with the body, and provides more financial savings than conventional diagnostic tools.

Aside from breast cancer, thermography screenings can also help detect many other conditions, including heart disease, arthritis, neck and back pain, sinus issues, dental issues, immune dysfunction, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, carpal tunnel syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome, diverticulitis, Crohn’s disease, etc.
