Be the Change That You Want to See
Prepping to start my Radio Show Debut on www.BlogTalkRadio.com/beinginnamaste tomorrow evening http://www.blogtalkradio.com/beinginnamaste/2011/05/24/be-the-change-that-you-want-to-see. The show is called “Being In Namaste”. It is about living as a spiritual person. This is actually the most natural way to live for everyone in the world. Many believe that we are all a body with a spirit inside. The reality is we are all spiritual beings in a body to hold it, but to fulfill a purpose our spirit had in mind for us that we are to live out. We as a baby and very young children we know why we are here but sometimes as we grow and learn from those around us we forget. The reason we are here becomes a mystery to us and we do not follow what we are intended to do.
The term Namaste means, well one definition for it is, “I honor that place in you, where love and beauty dwell, when I honor that place in you and you in turn honor that place in me, it makes us one”. The reality is we are all connected weather we are aware of it or not. One important thing is to become more aware. That happens when you pay attention to who and what you really are. If we do what we are told by parents or other loved ones, do what we believe is expected of us even though it is not really what we want, we feel it is not really who we are but we do it anyway, we are not living in our truth.
If you do not do what you were born to do, you are not only not being true to yourself, but the world is being deprived of what you have to offer. You are doing others and yourself a disservice. If all of us did, what we felt was right for us and stood by that, and all others believed in the same thing, there would be no disagreement. No one would judge us, blame us or otherwise express anything but unconditional love and support for what we chose for ourselves. Anytime we surround ourselves with others who do not practice unconditional love with us ad support what we feel is right for us, we need to make them aware that that is what we need.
As I have been looking for songs for the intro for my show, and since I have more than one favorite that encompasses what this show is about, I remembered a song from MC Yogi called the quote from Gahndi, “Be the Change that You Want to see”, I love this because I feel each of us has a passion, or passions that when we pursue and put them as a practice in our lives, we are serving the world, God and each other as we were meant to. If each of us did this all around the world, we would not have wars or conflict of any kind. Also as I was looking for songs for the intro, I originally planned to put together a collage or medley of songs to play for each episode, but later felt that the emotion created by such a collage would not really allow the listeners, or myself to really embrace the essence of ALL the songs, therefore short changing the energy that can be created in playing my favorite part of any given song. Or at least the part that best expresses what I want to say. So decided to pick from a number of songs that resonate with me and play different ones for different shows, picking one that best goes with the central topic I plan to make that show about.
Would love as always to get your feedback.
Who do you believe you are? Are you being true to yourself?
As we enter this Easter Holiday weekend, it is important to remember what the most important part of what Jesus was here to teach us. Love. Unconditional love of ourselves and our neighbor. The passage love your neighbor as you love yourself only works if we truly love ourselves unconditionally. Only then can we in turn love others unconditionally. My love for myself was one reason I felt it necessary to take the next step in my Reiki training and become a Reiki Master.
As I’ve been going through my Reiki Master training, in one of the classes we were discussing ideas for projects using pictures of ourselves to be a part of our change. As Reiki Master’s in training we are aware…….. no more than that, we are expecting change in ourselves. As we go through our training we are doing assignments that make us dig deep within ourselves to bring out more of who we are. Learn more about ourselves as we learn about the teachings to help others. Of course in order for us to help others we need to be more aware of ourselves.
In any case one of the students suggested we take apart our picture, a black and white version and replace pieces of it
with color versions. This idea reminded me of a movie called Pleasantville. Perhaps you’ve heard of it? It’s with Toby McGuire and Reece Witherspoon. A good move that very metaphorically going from a town called Pleasantville that is in the story a TV show from the 50’s which is in Black and White of course. However as the movie progresses people and things become in color. It’s a relevant movie about change. And actually illustrates the concept of what is said will happen in 2012. That the world will change (which we’re experiencing now) to way of doing things different from what and how we do things now. It’s also referred to as the “End of the World……As we know it”. The key words being “As we know it”. This movie as I said illustrates change in how we think, how we perceive things now. We are all experiencing changes, some call it shifting, in ourselves, in our world. How things are done now vs. how they will be done. The biggest thing we can all do to prepare ourselves is to go with the changes we see ourselves faced with. Many try to fight those changes, because we see them as uncomfortable, but in reality these changes can help make us much more comfortable. Much more in allowing who we really are to emerge from who we have been acting like, or who we felt we were. Some of these feelings who we feel we are came about from what we felt was expected of us from our parents, our loved ones, whoever. The reality is we, each and every one of us has to be living according to who we really are. That maybe be someone you’ve fantasized about being but felt you never could for what ever reason. The reality is you CAN and you MUST allow yourself to be who you are. Those around you who are your real loved ones who are there for your highest good. Don’t deny it. Allow it. Be who you are. By not doing so you are not only depriving yourself, but depriving those who need who you really are to be available for the purpose you are here for.
Watching this movie may help inspire you. Also to mention again about a workshop coming up next weekend, starting Friday, April 29th called Essence of Being. I recommend two things. Rent Pleasantville and register for this workshop. It can be a huge leap for you to being discovering who you are and get on your true path.
Reiki, Tantra, EOB, Drum Circles, Spirit Dance and more…
I’ve mentioned in a previous post about the different areas of practice I’ve been involved with to increase my consciousness, my awareness, my spiritual growth and become more aware of my gifts as a spiritual being. First let me say, we are all able to do this in whatever way that most resonates with us. I personally am not a big fan of religion but I do not judge those who are religious or just casually practice a religion that truly inspires them to feel comfortable with who they are, love themselves and love others. What really matters is that you operate from your heart and share your love with others through conversation or seeing needs in others and helping fill them if they will allow while respecting those who decline. That is one of the hardest things is when you feel someone needs something that you can provide but they express an unwillingness to accept. What is of the case, even when you feel they need it, they are usually not ready. Also sometimes I’ve found someone struggling with something and for some reason I see it, but don’t recognize it, (my mind wonders or something) then someone else helps them and I initially feel bad that I didn’t do something. But I often realize, that it was not my place to help them, the one who did, was the one who was supposed to, so I should not feel bad that I did not. Remember that every occurrence that happens something else follows in a sequence of events. If that sequence is changed or interrupted it can change the course of events in a dramatic way.

I bring about all this because though some of this I had some awareness of, I did not feel it on a daily basis as I do now. When I started Reiki Circles just a couple years ago, I did not know what Reiki was previous to that. I had never heard of Tantra. Drum circles I’d heard of but had no idea what they were about. Spirit Dance I also hadn’t heard of, nor many of the other spiritual practices I’ve come to love and really resonate with who I am. Before I started Reiki I was definitely not living in my truth, I had much fear in many ways, though I denied it I did have more vanity than I would admit and did have fears about other’s perceptions of me. I was very uncomfortable in my own skin mostly because I was very blocked off, out of touch and had trouble facing who I really was, afraid that who I was I myself could not accept. I had so many conflicts going on within myself that my self love was so far down the toilet and I couldn’t even find my way to the seat from the underside.
Once I went to my first Reiki Circle, down in Miami Beach, that’s when my life began to change. It was first time I feel I experienced unconditional love. I felt very comfortable, that I was with people who wouldn’t judge me. This circle consisted of a guided meditation done by a woman named Lee Ann Ferre. I was so amazed with how well she did this I had to tell her so afterward and I did. Also I learned she came from a Reiki School called Loving Touch Center. At their store, Crystal Vision www.crystalvisionltc.com they do Reiki Circles every Friday and Sunday nights. They also do Monday mornings. At the time though I went with my daughter to the Sunday night ones. After experiencing Reiki circles for about four months I learned that they were doing a Reiki 1 class and I wanted to become a practitioner. After practicing Reiki when attending circles for about 14 months I became aware of so much more. I also had gone to SiddahYoga in Miami, a Tantra Yoga class in Fort Lauderdale done my Nayano Burdine www.tantricalife.com , various drum circles, prayer and spiritdances and met many others in various spiritual circles. In the process of this I connected to so many loving people.
More to come on this…..

Nutrition and Your Inner Child
There comes a time when you just have to give in to your inner child. Who is your inner child? It’s the you that’s inside you before you entered puberty and became an adult. Your inner child is still a part of you and the part that must be connected with, nourished and loved by the you as an adult. If the adult you does not pay any attention to your inner child, your inner child will become very unhappy and affect you in your adult life in ways you won’t realize and really can’t imagine. By connecting with your inner child you can heal yourself in many ways that you can’t possibly imagine. I did not realize how much I neglected my inner child for many years. I felt because of my responsibilities I could not afford the time nor spend the energy to allow that part of me to come out. I felt such an indulgence could only be allowed once some success was attained on my part to earn that ability. I did not realize that I had it backwards, The reality is that your success in any area of your life can not be attained UNLESS you tend to your inner child’s needs. Your inner child being happy is a big part of what will make you happy. It’s also along the lines of the saying “stop and smell the roses”…..well stop and pay attention to your inner child. Address your inner child by name. I use Ricky, since that’s what I went by as a child up till I was about twelve.
The reason I call this post Nutrition and You Inner Child is not just about food, but Nutrition or nourishment in many forms, love, attention, nurturing, what ever he or she wants. He will tell you, you just have to listen. However taking things a little more literally one of the things Ricky really likes once in a while is root beer floats. Of course that consist of rootbeer and Ice cream. Of course either of these is what I normally consume but doing so once in a while will not kill me. Quite the contrary it is a comfort food and since it feeds me spiritually, it will indeed be good for me because feeding my spirit, in this case my inner child will make him happy and feel good. There can be other kinds of things that your inner child wants that may not necessarily be considered healthy as I promote here in my blog but if we don’t feed our spirit. And I’m not talking about just your inner child but your inner teenager as well. That is another level of your being that should never be ignored.
As I’ve been saying recently about the need for connecting with your spirituality, your spirit being you higher self. Some things that may not be “nutritionally sound” but strengthening your spirit is more important than “nutrition excellence” all the time. Plus if you follow my advise of the solution I refer to in getting concentrated nutrition on a regulaar basis. These occasional or maybe some what regular “intercessions” will help your spirit and make you a more powerful person with a balanced well rounded lifestyle that resonates with your being. That’s what’s really important, doing what resonates with you. If you follow that, you can’t really go wrong.

Messages for you from Movies, Books, TV, Music and People
Messages that many of us get everyday all day are from our everyday environment like movies, books and songs, and People. One of the things I’ve learned about paying attention to the guidance I receive is sometimes just a pattern of feelings that leads me to an awakening or seeing something from a perspective that hadn’t occurred to me before. In a previous post I mentioned shifting. When ever that happens I experience a shift. One major shift I had was during the
Exercise, Nutrition and Spiritual Energy
The other day I posted my first blog post about spirituality. As a mix for good health with Nutrition and exercise which I’ve been posting for a couple years now.
With my last blog post about sports injuries, or wear and tear when it comes to exercise, it came to be that many feel you can do all the concentrated nutrition and exercise you want and it didn’t stop “someone they know” from getting cancer, Alzheimer’s, or some other deadly disease. I will say that although this is true, I feel the occurrence of the disease likely came about from a stressful scenario in their life that wasn’t resolving. There is a book that I can’t remember the name of that lists a bunch of behaviors or habits that have an amazing cause and effect on the manifestation of disorders. When I looked at the book I was amazed at the examples I found in the cause and effect of the behaviors and habits of my dad, my mom, myself and others and certain ailments that they had. Being aware of these was an eye opening experience to make changes in those areas. However often times knowing of these is not enough. I have also found that getting myself exposed to various energies can help to make the changes or other wise known as shifts. Shifts are something that happen when either we are exposed to different information that helps us to see things in a different way, or and experience that occurs with similar results. I’ve also seen that happen in that one can make pretty immediate changes when just exposed to different spiritual energies. When I say energy I am not referring to when someone feels a lot of energy they feel like doing a lot of activity. Another way to put it would be to refer to these energies as frequencies or vibrations. As you know vibrations and frequencies are all around us, though many associate those as the electronic ones we are bombarded with every day, I’m referring to the natural ones. There are vibrations that all matter have. As we know all matter is made up of molecules and the only difference between say air and a table are the frequencies that they vibrate at. Well these spiritual energies come about as a result of what some people can bring about and what can just be called upon by us. Remember we are all spiritual beings here in our bodies to fulfill a purpose.
Many of us have difficulty finding our passions because we’ve become so accustomed to not really enjoying life but just surviving. Know that you are here to do more than just survive, you are here to really enjoy living your passions. Another method I was made aware of by a few of my spiritual friends is a workshop called EOB or “Essence of Being”, This is an incredible workshop which is facilitated by a woman named Burge Smith Lyons and is an incredible person in my opinion. This workshop is one in which you interact with others doing different exercise of interactivity, questions are asked of you and those you do this with which is an incredible experience. They use a number of techniques, many of which I’ve seen and used before but combine them in such a way to really help you to get to the root of many of the things that are troubling you in life. It helps you learn to take control of your life. As I say, we are all here for a purpose and if you’re not sure what tat is, I recommend taking this workshop. Get more info at www.Essenceofbeing.com or check out the FB invite http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=147990078592813 assuming you’re on FaceBook. If you’re not let me know, I’d be happy to provide info to this amazing experience.
That is why we are all here. The only thing we need to do is make yourself aware of that purpose and to go about executing it. Sound simple right? Obviously not since many of us are clueless as to what that purpose is that we’re supposed to fulfill. What it comes down to is our passions. Whatever it is that makes you feel good, feel alive, that is where you should be and what you should be doing. If you love what you do, it makes life much easier. Some of us are still searching and still feel clueless, or find what makes us feel great or have trouble finding how to make it our livelihood. Usually when we have trouble either finding our passions or finding how to make it our livelihood is due to fear. Fear that we’re not good enough with our passions to charge people for it. However the reality is that we are indeed good enough for those who need our help, our guidance, our talents that we do not realize the benefits we provide. Another issue with this is to allow. Allow yourself to be available to those who need what you are passionate about, Who are more than willing to pay a good price to receive what you have to offer.
The bottom line here is, Taking good care of your body and exercising regularly for optimum health are all useless if we are not fulfilling our passions. It is said that man does not LIVE on food and water alone. Love is a part of that and Love is the most powerful energy in the universe. If we don’t have a love for what we do and we don’t give and share love in our day to day lives being involved and doing, following our passions, then we are not fulfilling the purpose our spirit put us here for in the first place and it may be your spirit manifesting the disease because you are wasting time by not fulfilling your purpose.
As I said in that previous post as well I have discovered that fulfilling your spirit’s purpose for putting you here, is actually more important the nutrition and exercise. Though doing both of those I feel will make you more productive in fulfilling your purpose. Personally I feel promoting nutrition and exercise is part of my purpose, The other is working with people to help them resolve who they are and why their here. Which is why I feel I was led to Reiki., Tantra and the other spiritual practices I’m involved with that all resonate with me so much and makes me grateful to have found my place.
Sports Injuries, or Exercise Wear and Tear.. and Nutrition.
The bones cartilage and all parts associated with the joints would be repaired and strengthened through proper nutrition for. What it takes is to increase the nutritional concentration on a daily basis. The key factor is getting the ALL important enzymes that are only mostly found in vine ripened produce.
Yesterday as I was riding my bike I came across a woman running using a device on her shoes or perhaps it was part of her shoes, that was a kind of a bow spring, I slowed down on my bike to ask her about it. I felt it was to increase the strengthening of her calves, but actually it was to relieve the impact to her ankles and knees, I said ah, ok cool. I said that on the out side, but on the inside I said bad idea. You may ask why a bad idea, isn’t that good to be able to get the running exercise in without stress to the ankles and knees since running is known to cause issues there? And the answer is……. No, I don’t agree!!!
The reality is that common injuries or wear and tear on certain joints etc associated with some sporting or exercise activities are “known” to occur and some accept those as facts. The reality is they are misconceptions. Do these injuries and wear and tear not occur? Of course they do but it is not due to the activity, it is due to inadequate nutrition one gets in the dietary intake that is the problem. Not the activity itself. If we needed a contraption like that woman was wearing don’t you realize we would have been suited with something like that in our anatomy to prevent problems. No, if we take in sufficient amounts of nutrients on a regular basis these injuries or “wearing out” would not occur, those areas of the body would repair and get stronger according to what is needed for the body to protect itself. Just as body builders take nutrition to help their muscles adapt to handling the workout, there fore building muscle mass. The bones cartilage and all parts associated with the joints would be repaired and strengthened through proper nutrition for. What it takes is to increase the nutritional concentration on a daily basis. The key factor is getting the ALL important enzymes that are only mostly found in vine ripened produce. Increasing your nutritional intake starts with consuming lots of raw, vine ripened fruits and veggies on a daily basis. Problem is your local grocery store does not have vine ripened produce. And no organic isn’t necessarily vine ripened either, Vine ripened means the produce was picked at it’s peak of being ripe. That’s when the. They only get in in the last couple weeks of becoming ripe occur and what is at the store shelves are picked way before that.
I have a solution though if your interested in finding out more please contact me.
I will say that this information is not just about what I’ve read, or heard about but what I’ve experienced for myself. I, about 10 or more years ago decided to start running regularly since I wanted to get rid of abs fat that I always had trouble with and I learned running was the best way to get rid of it. So I did so for a couple months but found my ankles and knees were bothering me from the “impact” from running. So I stopped, and did different exercise. Then when I learned of the way to increase my nutritional density I did so and had been at it for maybe two years when I began learning about how others were benefiting. So I decided to start running again and found that not only could I run 3 miles daily without any problem, I got up to 6 and as much as 8 miles in a day with only some minor discomfort. That’s when I realized how important nutrition plays. Another part of nutrition which I’ve mentioned before which is key which is hydration. Hydration is really important for so many areas, so if you combine good hydration with concentrated nutrition it’s a very good combo. Though seeing me to get some Reiki is very helpful as wellJJ As I said in a blog post from a coupe days ago. Getting some life force/spiritual energy in the mix makes for an unbeatable combo when it comes to good health.

Hydration through Water and Other Sources
Though we’re not in summer time yet, we are beginning to warm up and though I’ve posted on the importance of hydration in the past it bears repeating. Especially since I’ve got more young people who are seeing my stuff they tend to not drink enough for proper hydration. Though they are not the only ones, they are more prone to consume energy, performance or other kinds of drinks that are not really good for hydration. In fact often quite the opposite. I recommend taking a look at my previous posts on hydration.
http://rickfigley.com/http:/rickfigley.com/hydration-hydration-hydration/
http://rickfigley.com/http:/rickfigley.com/hydration-hydration-hydration-revisited/
I also have this link that covers nutrition in general, but covers important hydration information as well
http://rickfigley.com/http:/rickfigley.com/nutrition-reality-misconceptions-revisited/
If you’d prefer not to read through all that here is the hydration section:
“Rule 3, Hydration is of course the most important item to consume everyday. However anything other than water should not be considered for hydration. An exception is high water content produce. There will be future postings on that. But many consider the sports or performance drinks as hydration and they certainly promote and package themselves as such, they certainly are not. As I said, the closer to nature is the best. None of those products can be found in nature. If you don’t have a water filter at home, yes if your faucet delivers water from a treatment plant, you need a water filter. Bottled water is a good alternative but more expensive in the long run. Many are really not sure how uch water they should consume daily. X amount of glasses a day is not reality because you wouldn’t expect someone that is 6.5? the same requirement as someone who is 5?. So you go by weight. Take your body weight and divide by two. Some think that sounds like a lot. It is if you’re not accustomed to proper hydration.”
This is a short post, but wanted for it just to be a heads up as we start getting into hotter weather and the need for more hydration is important.

Holistic Practitioners and Spiritual Healers
As per my previous post, in the last couple years I’ve learned, but more importantly felt and gone through much change in the consciousness raising practices of Reiki, Tantra, Drum Circles and other as I’ve been participating in and been involved in many of events and become acquainted with many beautiful loving people.
I’ve always been an advocate for the holistic approaches to good health, of course including nutrition and exercise, but also Chiropractic, Acupuncture and various massage therapies. Though I still am an advocate of these, my understanding and personal experience of what the consciousness/awareness raising aka spiritual practices can do, I’ve come to realize they are an important addition that I would want in getting treated by those practitioners. I’ve also discovered the important differences in results that can be obtained in mental health. Though the “mental health” field covers more than what is considered “mental”. There are many human behaviors and habits, meaning how we walk, how we speak and what we think, our actual belief systems that affect our entire well being. Many “afflictions” I’ve become aware, being a result of lifestyle, I did not realize how our “behavior” could affect us as well. Many feel that therapy of various kinds that take place over years are necessary, however spiritual healers can be a great asset to achieving results much faster because life force energies that are available to us all via ourselves or healers who can assist. The life force energies are available to all of us. Healers who assist with this are of great benefit and chiropractors, acupuncturists, massage therapists, etc enhance the their power of providing healing energies to their patients/clients.
One of the reasons that a spiritual or energy healer (just different terminology) makes the result more powerful is that what Holistic Practitioners do is taught to them from technological discoveries. And while our technology is considered to be pretty good that does not make it the end all to healing. Just as there are many nutrients in our food that have yet to be discovered and understood what exactly they do, same can be said for what these practitioners do. The healing energies I speak of come from nature and has properties that our technology can not necessarily sense of measure. Rather people who are intuitive are better able to feel these than any devices. It is said that we use just a small percentage of our brains, what is all the rest used for? Though science and spirituality have been coming closer together it is becoming more clear that our spiritual essence may be a part of “activating” those other areas.
I will have more on this, but look forward to responses to what I have posted so far.
Thanks.
