What do you recommend people REALLY do to protect their health against Swine Flu (other than receiving a scary vaccine)?

Please address this whole ‘Swine Flu’ (H1N1) epidemic that’s supposedly coming, and what you recommend people REALLY do to protect their health (other than receiving a scary vaccine).

Answer provided by Dr. Jennifer Daniels: The virus is the seed. Its growth and progress is determined by the soil that it’s “planted in.” The soil would be the conditions in your body.

Let’s talk about the epidemic part first. An epidemic is defined as a rapid spread or increase in the occurrence of a disease. We know that getting a disease has 2 components: exposure and susceptibility.

Exposure
Person-to-person contact could not spread a disease as fast as the Swine Flu is predicted to spread. An outbreak of this magnitude would require a common source exposure. This means that the food supply, water, air, or something that large numbers of people are exposed to at the same time would have to be the source of exposure to the virus.

The one obvious source of exposure to the virus is the vaccine, which we know is manufactured from the virus. This source of exposure is easily avoided. Do not get vaccinated.

The next source of Swine Flu is swine (or pork). Do not eat it.

The next source of viral exposure is tap water. Drink reverse osmosis water or distilled water.

Dairy products can make it difficult for the body to resist respiratory infections. Eliminate dairy from your diet.

This will address the exposure part. Person-to-person contact is not, and has never been, a factor in sweeping epidemics. So secluding yourself, getting the vaccine, drinking tap water, and sending out for pizza with sausage and extra cheese only increases your chances of exposure.

Susceptibility
Once you have handled the exposure part, you need to address your internal environment.  In the event that you are exposed, you need to be sure that you have an internal environment in your body that will not allow the virus to grow.

In order to flourish, the virus needs sugar, an immune system burdened by other organisms, malnutrition, not enough oxygen, or dehydration.

Eat a diet that has no sugar, eat a nutritious diet (meaning a whole-food, plant based diet), avoid foods that have lots of bacteria (mainly meat and dairy), take deep breaths, and do enemas daily during the period that you feel exposure is likely.

Take your Juice Plus regularly, including the Vineyard blend – a properly functioning immune system and cardiovascular system are up to the task of creating antibodies and efficiently fighting off infections, otherwise we would not have made it as a species on this planet. The immune system has something called plasticity – it means that if the immune system has the nutritional support it needs and good hydration, it can make antibodies to a virus it has never seen before, and it can do it in a matter of hours. I cannot say the same for the most sophisticated immunological laboratory on the planet.

If Infected:
If you feel you have been exposed or that the virus may be in your system, eat raw garlic, radish, and vinegar (see recipe below). This will stimulate the immune system and act as an antibiotic. Continue the dietary measures discussed above.

Dr. Daniels’ Immune Boost Recipe
1 head of garlic, crushed or minced
3 red radishes or 1 turnip grated
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar, organic unfiltered if possible, but regular is ok

Put all ingredients in a glass jar. Shake. Let sit for 30 minutes. Take 1 tablespoon (vinegar and solid stuff combined) by mouth 3 times a day until all better. It is ok to double or triple the recipe.

That is really about it.  I would strongly recommend the avoidance steps. They are the most effective and the easiest.

The Good News
Remember, it is just a virus. Like every other virus, the infection rate may be high but the death rate is low and most people experience the flu, even this one, as a few days of inconvenience. Do not rush to do things that may be more harmful than doing nothing.

Good Healthy Lifestyle Quote

This is a great quote from a Chiroprator and fellow Juice Plus+ distributor.

Michael Ewald, D.C.

“If you do not control your diet and lifestyle, eventually your diet and lifestyle will control you.”

His Health Advice:
“Good health doesn’t just happen! Exercise, adequate rest, hydration, maintaining a positive mental attitude, and avoiding a toxic diet are all essential for maintaining health and achieving longevity.” Proper nutrition is the cornerstone of health and wellness. A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains significantly reduces your risk of chronic disease. All of us should strive to eat 9 or more servings of plant – based foods every day.

Why he reommends Juice Plus+
“Juice Plus+ is the most convenient and affordable way to add more nutrition from whole foods to your diet. The research that has been published on Juice Plus+ shows that the product improves key biomarkers at the cellular level. Juice Plus+ is not meant to replace eating right, but is a simple way to bridge those nutritional shortfalls. It provides a broad spectrum of nutrients found in food. This is why I recommend Juice Plus+ to all my patients — and why I will take it the rest of my life!”

Do Prenatal Vitamins Do More Harm Than Good?

Love this article. Since learning about the importance of whole food nutrition vs. taking vitamins and how especially important it it for pregnant women. This article points out the fallacy of this nutritional approach, especially for women. With this in mind I do not agree about the exceptions regarding Folic acid and other “exception supplements” because again, with whole food being the idea nutritional source, nature does not provide any nutrition in pill form. Anyway, here’s the link to the article.

Milk or ANY Dairy for Nutrition ?

Many people have become aware of the hazards of drinking milk: osteoporosis, ear infections, as opposed to the alleged nutritional benefits associated with it such as the calcium and protein myths, the caution that humans are the only mammal that drink the milk of another species pointing to the unnatural aspect of the practice.

The reality is in the nutritional circles there is more information discouraging drinking milk or consuming ANY dairy product for that matter, at least for nutritional purposes. Avoiding it entirely when in the process of getting rid of any illness or doing any internal cleansing of the body is highly recommended. Dairy products should only be consumed as a treat.

Now is best time to boost your immunity

I just posted about the Swine Flu Vaccine and the importance of naturally boosting your immune system. The reality since cold and flu season is upon us, now it’s extra importnat to do so. Interestingly many are not quite sure how to do that. If you’ve read previous blog postings of mine you know I’m AGAINST vitamin supplements. I advocate whole food for the best health. Here is a link…the first of many to help guide you to that goal. There is one thing mentioned here I don’t agree with and that is dairy. I don’t agree that dairy helps the immune system. I’ll post more info on that later. The other food items on concepts are good.

Health and nutrition realities, vs. misconceptions. Fit vs. healthy

Welcome to my website/blog where I share information about nutrition and how to improve it in your life. There are many misconceptions about what constitutes good nutrition and the purpose of this blog is to help clarify those misconceptions.  It’s amazing the misinformation that is put out about what makes for good nutrition. The fact is, there are a lot of companies with big advertising budgets to imply that there is research showing what they are selling is what the research says you need.  Although I too represent a company that provides a nutritional resource, the research I will direct you to is top notch and indisputable. What I do is educate people from highly credible resources I’ve learned from and make available to you. This research has been peer reviewed by professionals in the  field that the research was done and published in the respective professional journals.

Anyway, I’m getting ahead of myself. When it comes to good nutrition it’s really not that complicated.

Rule 1, processed food is bad. Most anything that comes out of a box has little to no nutritional value except for a few exceptions. These exceptions become clear by reading the ingredients. If a good portion of the ingredients is sugar, enriched flour, high fructose corn syrup, partially hydrogenated oils and or an artificial sweetener like aspartame or similar. It’s best to avoid. None of those ingredients have any nutrition and are harmful to eat over a long period of time.

Rule 2, the best parts of the store to shop in are the produce department, the fish department, the meat department. and a few items in the cereal isle and a couple items in isles that have little processed products. In that order. The more you eat that comes closest to it’s original state from nature, the more nutrition it has. If it has a lot of ingredients you can’t easliy pronounce, probably not good to eat those either.

You may notice I did not mention the dairy department. That was intentional in that there is no dairy required for human nutritional needs. For treats? Sure on occasion. On the other hand, often healthy dairy substitutes like soy, almond or rice milk products are in the dairy section. Also farm raised eggs are ok as well.

Rule 3,  Hydration is of course the most important item to consume everyday. However anything other than water should not be considered for hydration. An exception is high water content produce. There will be future postings on that. But many consider the sports or performance drinks as hydration and they certainly promote and package themselves as such, they certainly are not. As I said, the closer to nature is the best. None of those products can be found in nature. If you don’t have a water filter at home, yes if your faucet delivers water from a treatment plant, you need a water filter. Bottled water is a good alternative but more expensive in the long run. Many are really not sure how uch water they should consume daily. X amount of glasses a day is not reality because you wouldn’t expect someone that is 6.5′ the same requirement as someone who is 5′. So you go by weight. Take your body weight and divide by two. Some think that sounds like a lot. It is if you’re not accustomed to proper hydration.

Anyway, I’ve given some basics in this posting, there is much more to come and I welcome your comments. Please feel free to share this with your friends and relatives since although some of what will be recommended here will sound difficult if not impossible to achieve in your busy lifestyle, I’ll provide ways to make it easier.

In talking about Fit vs. Healthy. it’s really pretty simple. You can be fit, but being healthy requires good nutrition to go with your fitness plan. Without it you’re tearing your body down leading to injuries and possible degenerative disease. Our bodies require regular physical exercise but that exercise does cause damage to cell structures if not offset by good nutrition to counteract the effects. Some feel if they exercise a lot and intensely they can eat anything they want. That is a mistake, especially within the first hour after an exercise routine. The body wants the best nutrition possible during that time for the maintenance needed, also known as recovery. Recovery drinks are not the answer. Real food like fruits and vegetables or certain well formulated nutrition products which I will cover in a subsequent posting.

Hope you found this helpful. Would love your comments.
